Item: Soul Bane(2nd ed. AD&D)
The Soul's Bane is an ancient artifact of yonder eons, it's creation as much of a mystery as the weapon itself. The Sword is ornately decorated with silver, diamonds, and the hilt has a dark iron hue. The blade made of the finest magical steel - making the sword undamagable by breaking, corrosion, or magical means. Upon a sucsessful hit, it will draw the soul of a victim into the blade, sending it into dormancy untill the blade is destroyed. This sword will also effect ghosts, and other undead which still consist of a soul. It will only do normal damage undead or monsters without a soul (animals, ect.). Of couse, loosing a soul means instant death of the monster. Once 12 souls have been drawn into the blade, it will have reached it's capacity. Another attempted to add a soul to the blade will result in the blades destruction in a rather horrible way... all of the souls will return to the plane they are destined for, and the sword will shatter in an explosion. The explosion will give 14D6 damage in a 120 ft. sphere. You can in no way identify the number of souls allready inside the blade, or the potential for explosion, though you can tell every thing else through identification. (Optional) You may roll a die for, or have a set number of souls inside the blade once the character obtains it. (Submitted by Game Cube Guy)
